Housing

We provide a housing support service for people with mental health issues who live in Leeds. We work with people for up to two years.

We provide support to individuals to:

  • Access & retain safe, affordable housing or maintain their current tenancy
  • Develop their life skills
  • Maximize their independence & autonomy
  • Sustain good mental health
  • Access other services
  • Focus on aspirations, strengths and goals

Support is offered through visits to the clients - usually once a week for an hour or so, although how clients make use of their support visits is up to them. Our aim is to help each tenant towards greater self-confidence and independence until ultimately our support is no longer needed.  Housing Support Workers perform many tasks and the more common ones include referring clients to a more specialist service (e.g. counseling), supporting clients during visits to other agencies, (i.e. benefits, housing,) helping tenants to claim benefits and access other relevant services, providing information about training and education, budgeting issues, tenancy management issues, accommodation searches, finding meaningful activity, pre-tenancy work, problem solving, goal setting and educational support.

Shared Houses - We currently have 4 shared houses, 2 male and 2 female with 13 places altogether.

Referrals - to be assessed for support a referral form must be filled in.  These can either be downloaded from the website or from our office (tel 305 5805).

They can be completed as a self referral, by a carer or by a statutory or voluntary agency. Once a referral is received a member of the team will make contact to arrange an assessment to help assess an applicant’s suitability for the service.
